Change up the space you already have
Planning permission is not required for internal works. However, if you are going to be removing or constructing walls, drawings for your builder to work from are a good idea. This protects you and ensures that you are on the same page.

Case Study
BEFORE
This house already had a great amount of space and the owners were happy with the plot size. However, the layout wasn't working for them and they wanted to create a large open plan living area.

You can see from the original floor plan that the kitchen was almost in the centre of the house. We moved the kitchen to the large lounge and opened that whole area up to create a huge open plan kitchen/diner/living area.
​
We then created a separate cosy snug where the old kitchen had been and created a large utility room.
​
The result is a much more liveable space with less walls and a lot more flow.
